The Truth About Cerakote Ceramic Spray – Does It Really Work?
We tested Cerakote’s popular ceramic spray in real-world conditions. Here's what actually happened.
With flashy packaging and a lot of hype, Cerakote Ceramic Spray promises professional-level protection in a single-use wipe. But is it really delivering ceramic coating results—or just marketing buzz?
What Is Cerakote Ceramic Spray?
Cerakote is sold as a wipe-on ceramic coating—pre-soaked into a disposable cloth, packaged in a sealed foil pouch. The appeal? No mixing, no measuring, no tools. Just open the pouch and wipe it on.
It sounds great for beginners… but we put it to the test to see if it holds up.
How We Tested Cerakote
We applied Cerakote on one half of a black car panel and left the other half untreated. Then we exposed the panel to:
- 5 full washes with pH-neutral car soap
- Sun exposure for 30 days
- Water spot testing and drying performance
The results were clear—and honestly, a bit disappointing.
Our Real-World Results
✅ Application:
Easy. Just tear open and wipe. But the wipe dried out quickly, making it hard to coat an entire panel unless you rushed.
🧼 Shine & Slickness:
Minimal improvement. The surface had a slight sheen, but nothing close to a true ceramic coating or even a quality spray sealant.
🌧️ Water Beading:
Beading started off decent but faded after 2–3 washes. By the 5th wash, the water clung to the surface almost like it was bare.
❌ Durability:
Weak. If you're expecting long-lasting protection, this isn't it. Most of the coating seemed gone after a few weeks.
So… Is Cerakote Worth It?
If you're just looking for a quick wipe-on product with zero effort and don’t mind reapplying often, Cerakote might be fine. But for serious detailers or anyone wanting real ceramic protection, it’s not enough.
Here’s a better alternative:
✅ Tough As Shell Ceramic Spray
- Real ceramic protection with 4–6 months of durability
- Spray on, wipe off – no prep or special tools needed
- Insane water beading, UV protection, and glossy finish
It’s what we use on customer cars and personal vehicles—because it just works.
