How to Apply Tire Dressing (Pro Tips for No Sling)

Want perfect tires with no sling? Here’s how to apply tire dressing the right way—including the best products, applicators, and techniques.

Why Application Matters

Most tire sling happens because of improper application—not the product itself. Even the best tire dressing will sling if it’s applied incorrectly or left sitting wet on the tire.

Here’s how to get a clean, durable finish—without the mess.

What You Need

Step 1 – Clean Tires Thoroughly

  • Spray tires with tire cleaner or degreaser
  • Scrub with a stiff brush to remove old dressing and browning
  • Rinse well and dry completely

Pro Tip: If you apply dressing on dirty tires, it will sling and not bond properly.

Step 2 – Choose Your Finish

  • For matte OEM look, dilute All Dressed Up 4:1
  • For rich satin look, use All Dressed Up straight

Step 3 – Apply Tire Dressing

  • Apply a small amount of dressing to your All Blacked Out Applicator
  • Spread evenly around the entire tire face
  • Work the dressing into the rubber for best bonding

Step 4 – Let Dry Completely

  • Allow dressing to dry to the touch before driving
  • If desired, do a final wipe with a microfiber towel to remove excess

Pro Tip: Sling usually happens when excess dressing is left wet on the tire.

When applied properly, All Dressed Up delivers a clean, professional tire finish with zero sling—even on daily drivers.
