Foam Cannon Soap Ratio Mistakes – Are You Wasting Product?

Too much soap doesn't always equal better results. In fact, it can actually make your foam cannon perform worse. Here's how to fix it.

Why Your Foam Isn’t Working Like It Should

The most common mistake people make with foam cannons? Mixing the soap ratio incorrectly. Using too much or too little soap can cause:

  • Watery, ineffective foam
  • Soap buildup on paint
  • Clogged foam cannon internals
  • Wasted product (and money)

What’s the Ideal Soap Ratio?

For most foam cannons, a great starting ratio is:

2 to 4 ounces of soap per 32 ounces of water in your foam cannon bottle.

For thicker foam or heavily soiled vehicles, go up to 6 ounces. For maintenance washes, you can go as low as 1 ounce if your product is highly concentrated.

The Super Soaper Is Built for Foam Cannons

The Super Soaper is designed to work in both foam guns and foam cannons. It activates instantly, produces thick clingy foam, and doesn't require crazy amounts to perform well.

How to Mix It Right Every Time

  1. Fill your foam cannon bottle with warm water up to the 28 oz mark.
  2. Add 2 to 4 ounces of The Super Soaper.
  3. Shake gently before each use.
  4. Adjust based on foam thickness and weather conditions.

Pro Tip: Always start with less soap and increase as needed. Most users over-foam, which shortens the life of their product and doesn't actually help clean better.

How Much Soap Is Too Much?

More isn’t always better. Excess soap can clog the foam cannon’s internals, especially if left sitting between washes. That leads to uneven foam and wasted product over time.

If you need to boost performance, make sure your pressure washer is delivering at least 1.8 GPM and your nozzle is clean and calibrated.
