MAXL Ceramic Spray Review – Real Protection or Just Another Hype Brand?

MAXL claims to have reinvented ceramic protection with something called “Triphene technology.” But does it really outperform traditional SiO₂ sprays?

We put MAXL’s ceramic spray to the test and compared it directly to Tough As Shell. Here’s what actually held up—and what didn’t.

What Does MAXL Claim?

MAXL markets its ceramic spray as infused with “Triphene,” a next-gen ingredient meant to improve durability and bonding. Their packaging and branding suggest it’s a major leap beyond traditional SiO₂ sprays.

But there’s little independent data on what Triphene actually is—or whether it outperforms proven formulas.

How MAXL Performed in Our Testing

  • Application: Slick and easy to apply, but streaky on glass and soft trim
  • Water Behavior: Strong beading early, but noticeably faded after 2–3 washes
  • Durability: Lost most of its slickness and protection by week 3 on a daily driver

While the initial application felt solid, the results didn’t back the hype—especially under sun, daily driving, and wash cycles.

How It Compares to Tough As Shell

Tough As Shell delivered better water behavior, longer durability, and a more forgiving user experience.

It also performed better across different surfaces—including trim and glass—without streaking or residue issues.

Is Triphene Legit or Just Marketing?

Triphene is MAXL’s proprietary term, but there’s no public documentation proving it provides any measurable advantage over standard SiO₂ formulas.

Until that happens, it reads like another branding trick to justify higher pricing—similar to how many companies once leaned hard on “graphene.”

Final Verdict

MAXL Ceramic Spray isn’t terrible, but it didn’t perform like a next-level product either. It's decent for gloss and temporary protection—but falls short on long-term results.

If you want ceramic protection that’s been tested in real-world detailing environments, Tough As Shell is the better option—hands down.
